About the Teacher

Erin has been a teacher for more than 20 years. She believes that the classroom should be a safe, loving space for everyone, where each learner feels seen and heard. Erin feels blessed to be a part of the amazing English language teaching team at the California Innovative Career Academy's International High School.

Although born in Huntsville, Arkansas, Erin was raised in California and spent most of her life in San Francisco. At San Francisco State University, Erin earned her bachelor's degree in Asian American Studies, her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and master's in Elementary Education. She also studied psychology at City College of San Francisco and Skyline College and public health at the University of San Francisco.

Prior to joining the Highlands family this year, Erin worked for a year at Asian Women's Shelter in the home where women and their children began to rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic violence.

Erin is the mother of 1 boy and 2 French bulldogs (also boys). She has studied traditional Hawaiian hula and enjoys singing to 90's slow jams, baking, and driving. If she were not a teacher and could have any other job, Erin would love to be a stunt car driver in Hollywood.
