About The Executive Assistant

Alexa was born and raised in Sacramento, CA where growing up in a Mexican household has its challenges along with being the oldest out of 3 sisters. But if it wasn't for that, she wouldn't be where she is now. A strong, independent, single mother to a two year old and working for the best job she never imagined. She started working with Highlands at the St. Anne's location in January 2019. Graciela Jaime, the ELD teacher there whom is now retired, was one of her biggest inspirations. Because of Graciela's experience and extensive knowledge, Alexa persevered off of it and knew that she would like to be like that one day. She involved herself in recruiting for Highlands, volunteer opportunities, and events to where she could network and go outside her comfort zone.
"In order to become the person you want to be, you have to become the person you never were." -Les Brown
Once she started to gain more knowledge about the school, she realized she wanted to do much more. She applied to be an Executive Assistant to the Chief Academics Officer to which instead got offered to be part of a brand new school. CICA opened its doors in August of 2019. Alexa joined the CICA team in September 2019 and has been learning each and every day. Being part of brand new school that will offer students an opportunity to study on their own time while at home, has been the biggest opportunity. The CICA team is surrounded by amazing teachers who truly care about their students, and have great bosses who are always in contact to care and support the staff to ensure the students are learning and being taken taken care of. CICA has been a great learning experience for Alexa and the best opportunity to continue growing with the school and as a person.
