Shelter-in-Place Frequently Asked Questions

DHA Clients - Apply for Benefits

Due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, we wanted to connect with our community partners to provide them an update since we closed all of our open lobby offices in Mid-March. At this time, the Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance office (DHA) has less staff working in the office due to COVID-19 impacts and is receiving a record number of applications. We have reassigned more staff to support the increase in Application Registration and Application Processing. This has been a major focus for our department in the interim to support those in need of services. As a result, this has impacted the number of staff we have available to support operations for the Welfare-to-Work program and services. If our customers choose to call our main line at (916) 874-3100 or (209) 744-0499 (For those in the area code), TDD/TTY, Hearing Impaired (916) 874-2599, they may experience periods of long wait times. We have been encouraging our DHA customers to use the customer service portal www.mybenefitscalwin.org as much as possible to review information regarding their benefits, submit verifications and documents to DHA. If you need to connect with us regarding the Welfare-to-Work program and services, please contact Seidy and I by email at: DHA-Welfare-to-Work@saccounty.net. Thank you.
